How do I apply to Job Corps?

  • Updated

Beginning the admissions process

Now that you've expressed your interest, you may begin an application on your own online, or you may decide to wait and speak with your admissions representative first. Either way, once you decide to forward with an application to Job Corps, you will need to create a MyJobCorps account.

Before you can create a MyJobCorps account, you must first express your interest in Job Corps online.

After expressing interest in Job Corps, you will need to create an account with login.gov. If you already have an account with login.gov, you can simply sign in using your existing login.gov account. To create a login.gov account, you are required to provide a valid email address and password. You will also need to select a verification method (such as a one-time code sent to your mobile phone). This simple extra step provides additional security to protect your information.

Make sure the email address you entered in the Express Interest Tool matches the email address you plan to use for future steps in setting up your accounts and completing your application. Email addresses must match.

When you log into MyJobCorps for the first time, you will be greeted with an indicator that provides you with helpful tips for you to get started on their application. You will select the "Start my application" to begin your application!

You will be asked questions to help Job Corps determine your eligibility and understand your personal circumstances. You may need to ask a parent or guardian for help answering some questions –that's OK! Your Admissions Representative will also be available to help you, and you will be required to work with your Admissions Representative to complete and finalize your application.

You can save your information and return back to your application at any point by navigating to the MyJobCorps homepage.

You will provide the following information in MyJobCorps:

  • Account Information: This is information you submitted when you Expressed your interest in Job Corps through the Express Interest Tool. If your information changes during the admissions process, be sure to make changes to your Account Information before submitting your application information. Be sure to input your name the exact way it is spelled on your government identification forms and include suffixes (i.e Jr., III,) if applicable.

  • Application Information: You'll be asked about your living situation, education, employment history, personal circumstances and other questions. Job Corps will use this information to learn more about you. Note that on the mobile view, you will need to select the menu in the top left corner to move through each section of the application (Figure 4b).

  • Documents: For some questions, you will also need to upload documents into MyJobCorps. All documents must be reviewed by your Admissions Representative. You can upload documents as images directly from your mobile phone, tablet or computer – just make sure the images are clear and legible so that your admissions representative can read them.  Be sure to save the file with a name that clearly states what that information is (for example, if you upload your birth certificate,  you should name the file Birth Certificate).

  • Agreements: You will also need to sign several forms electronically. These forms are related to policies, procedures, expectations, and rules and behavior. Be sure to read each form carefully, understand them, and sign them electronically (don’t worry – you won’t need a printer!). If you are under the age of 18, your parent/guardian or other approved representative may be required to sign them as well. Note that on the mobile view, you will need to select the menu in the top left corner to move through each agreement (Figure 6b).
